Summary: My very own Art! Reflections! I took the photo that I referenced for the bridge in the background. (It is the Pont Benezet in Avignon famous in the song.) Avignon just inspires art for me.

Wasn't Avignon the most glorious little town. When I was there it was all azure and gold. It was the first place where I had to make my way entirely in French, and I actually got a lovely little hotel down a narrow little street where no one spoke English and we could hardly fit up the twisting little stairway and the cat slept on the breakfast table. I was totally charmed.

I'm so glad you liked the water--this is the first time I've been really happy with water I've drawn.

I fell in love with the city walls, beautiful and so well preserved. And the Palace of the Popes, of course. It was late autumn when I was there and it was only for half a day, but I enjoyed it very much. That hotel does sound charming...

I was there around the middle of October, I think. The walls were so beautiful. I've drawn a picture of the Palais de Papes. It's somewhere in my journal--Ah! Here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/honorat/18186.html). And I've drawn a picture looking down over the vineyard and the Rhone towards Villenueve that I haven't uploaded. Now that winter is settling in here in bitter earnest, my heart turns to the south of France. No wonder Johnny and Vanessa live there!

I can relate to that, winter isn't exactly my favourite season... :-)
