Summary: My very own Art! Reflections! I took the photo that I referenced for the bridge in the background. (It is the Pont Benezet in Avignon famous in the song.) Avignon just inspires art for me.

Oh, the Pont Benezet, that brings back memories from my own brief visit to Avignon :-) This is very good, and I like how you've drawn the water, and the ground, with the grass.

Wasn't Avignon the most glorious little town. When I was there it was all azure and gold. It was the first place where I had to make my way entirely in French, and I actually got a lovely little hotel down a narrow little street where no one spoke English and we could hardly fit up the twisting little stairway and the cat slept on the breakfast table. I was totally charmed.

I'm so glad you liked the water--this is the first time I've been really happy with water I've drawn.

Thank you so much for the comment.

Thank you so much. Still snerking at that icon.

Twas the morn after the bonfire when all through the isle
Snoring resounded. Jack slept with a smile.
The pirate was tucked up all snug in the sand
With visions of rum bottles clutched in his hand.
When out on the beach there arose such a clatter
He sprang from his snooze to see what was the matter.
The sun on the breast of the glaring sea spread
Gave him a pain worse than oars on the head
When what to his wondering eyes should appear
But grubby Elizabeth with a keg of rum dear.
She was dressed in a white shift from shoulders to foot
And her clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
More rapid than seagulls her twinkling legs flew,
She tossed the barrel and the whole island blew!
Like powder in pistols and cannons in war
The palm trees exploded, the rum was no more.
Up to the treetops the flames and smoke rose
Burning the food and stinging his nose.
“No! Not good! Stop! Not good!” The poor pirate cried.
But the sad deed was done. The lassie had lied.
Jack threatened and whined, he frothed and he waved
He stomped and he stamped, he fumed and he raved.
Then Liz heard him exclaim, ‘ere he shot her on sight,
“But why is the rum gone? It just ain’t right!”

Okay, I have no idea where that came from or why it's here, but Christmas PotC poetry! LOL! Bad doggerel! No biscuit!

Talk about snerking! I'm sitting giggling at this. I have to show this to my friend at work who reads my PotC fiction, she'll get a kick out of this. Forget the biscuit, have a nice vegetarian mincemeat tart, I just made some. Even has rum in it.

Sorry, very absent minded tonight. Love the artwork, you do get the nicest densities in it, the foreground vegetation looks very good as does the water. Re: poem, I don't think you need the ' for the ere he shot her on sight Just a small, very small point. The whole picture of Jack frothing and stomping just cracks me up.

This makes me want to go to Avignon, just so I can see this bridge. As always, you do amazing work.

Avignon is such a gorgeous little medieval town and Provence is absolutely lovely, so it is well worth it, should you ever have the chance to be in southern France. Thank you for commenting. I'm glad my picture makes you want to be there. Unlike many of my original pictures, this is a place, althought not a time, one could actually get to!

Mmmmmmm. The queen of hearts made some tarts! Sounds lovely. I'm so glad my insane comment to [livejournal.com profile] geek_mama_2 is amusing people. That icon of hers just flipped a switch in my brain! I'm very much afraid rum may be contra-indicated by this condition! LOL.

I'm glad you like the picture, too. *grin* I think the 'ere got in there because it was in the online version of Twas the Night Before Christmas--which certainly isn't a recommendation for its correctness. I'll have to remove it when I post it on my regular journal. That whole part of the movie cracked me up as can be seen by the ridiculous poetry I just wrote. Ha! Thank you so much for the feedback.

I fell in love with the city walls, beautiful and so well preserved. And the Palace of the Popes, of course. It was late autumn when I was there and it was only for half a day, but I enjoyed it very much. That hotel does sound charming...

I was there around the middle of October, I think. The walls were so beautiful. I've drawn a picture of the Palais de Papes. It's somewhere in my journal--Ah! Here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/honorat/18186.html). And I've drawn a picture looking down over the vineyard and the Rhone towards Villenueve that I haven't uploaded. Now that winter is settling in here in bitter earnest, my heart turns to the south of France. No wonder Johnny and Vanessa live there!

When in doubt, add more rum.

I just got this comment notification and was able to read your poem again along with my morning coffee. That is such a perfect piratey adaptation of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. As I said before, I love it! So happy my icon inspired such brilliance.

LJ has certainly been feeling like Santa this morning. I received 17 notifications after 4 in the morning. Only two were comments I hadn't seen yet. I hope this means they've got their little elves sorted out and the Christmas mail will be delivered in a timely manner. I'm glad you enjoyed a second round of the seasonal madness that hit my muse. Thanks for the inspiration.
