Hope in the future you will give a try to the Navy Lieutenants, too^^. A gallery of POTC characters would be a great thing.

I do like the fact that it is not quite Johnny, but definitely Jack. Lovely, Honorat.

Cheers!
(And I'd love to see your Sands drawing. Recently become obsessed with a sort of strange "pairing" involving Agent Sands and Count Rugen from the Princess Bride. =) )

Now That's a OUATIM combination that never crossed my mind! Wow! Sands will be showing up this weekend.

Sorry, incoherence is my way of saying something is excellently amazing *squees*

This is amazing. And I find myself agreeing with you and galadhir -- it's more the character than it is the actor, which is quite cool, actually. Or...it's like one particular facet of the character, one side or flavor of him, shining through almost to the exclusion of the others. (Okay, how much sense did that *not* make?)
To try for something slightly closer to coherence, it's like this is the JAck that the mutiny made. This captures the fighter, the man betrayed, the sharper side of him. And it *is* all in the eyes, and the set of the face. There's almost the first hint of a snarl there. It's like you've captured him while he's in the cold place he goes to to get the job done.
And the texture and shading...wow. I can't draw for crap, but I adore artwork done in pencil. When it's done well, nothing looks more alive. And this is most definitely done well, in my opinion, anyway. The life in the eyes is perfect, and the details are incredible! I love the inlay work on the gun; that's just exquisite, and for some reason I won't ever be able to explain, I love the button on the cuff.
Absolutely awesome.

I love what you said about this picture (you have such a talent with words). "The Jack that the mutiny made . . . while he's in the cold place he goes to get the job done." That gave me shivers. Underneath the odd mannerisms and the pretended foppishness, he's really dangerous. I'll look at this picture in a new way now. Thank you so much for the new insight and eyes to see.
Pencil is my medium more because it's uprootable and transportable and I have to draw on the run. I've always loved well-shaded work and am happy I've finally started to achieve it. Thanks for noticing the inlay and the button--the details are the fun parts.
*Blush* You'll make my head swell.

This ... is Captain Jack Sparrow. It may not be exactly Johnny Depp playing Jack Sparrow ... but it is absolutely Jack. As someone else said, it lends a bit of sharpness, a bit of hard, shrewd deviousness to the character that we all know lurks underneath the facade of foolishness that he employs. Crazy like a fox, indeed! :-)
Absolutely brilliant - *Memories* :-D
Cheers ~

Jack is indeed only mad north-north-west :D And something else entirely different on every single other point of the compass I'm afraid.
Thank you so much for the art review--from the serial art committer.

It's fantasmagorically wonderful!!! I just had to comment once I saw his hand holding the gun. I have the POTC wall calendar, and December's pic is Jack steering a ship...and I just looked at his hand on the wheel. And then I looked at your drawing. And then at the calendar. Drawing. Calendar. Drawing. Calendar.
Anyhooooo...utter perfection.
