Original Art: Dashing Through the Snow

by Honorat

Summary: My very own Seasonal Art! No Photo References. A sleighride through a forest. Again, the universe is twisted where I draw--no particular time or place.

Oh this is beautiful! I love the horses. It must have taken you forever to achieve that dapple-gray look.

Thank you so much. Horses have always been my favourite thing to draw. Dappling is actually not that hard--just scribbling little circlish shapes in graduated sizes and values.

Wow, that picture makes me insanely envious not to live somewhere where snow looks that pretty! For some reason I am most fascinated by the snow-covered fir trees but the women and horses are amazing too. The only thing that feels a bit off to me is the town in the background. Maybe missing snow? I don't really know...

As always I am in total awe before your talent.

Thank you for the lovely comment. I've certainly lived around plenty of snow. It is beautiful when one is dressed for the weather. As for the background town, since I never know what these pictures are going to turn out to be, I tend to break a lot of scientific laws. I'd never noticed the lack of snow on the roofs. You're right. That would improve it.

Gorgeous! The horses are beautiful, the snow-dusted evergreens lovely, but I find myself captured by the detail of the few remaining leaves on the deciduous bushes in the foreground.

Thank you for dropping by my rather sluggish journal. I'm glad you enjoyed the treeness of this. I abhor drawing trees, but force myself to do it because I like the results and it builds character.
