Beautiful work! Oh just lovely! Thank you so much for sharing it!

Your drawings are really excellent !
Hope in the future you will give a try to the Navy Lieutenants, too^^. A gallery of POTC characters would be a great thing.
*hopefully*

Stunning! This is really nicely done. . .

[identity profile] honorat.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoy them. I'd love to draw the Navy Lieutenants. Do you know of a site that archives screen caps of them? I have no trouble finding no end of Jack and Will, and Elizabeth and Barbossa are somewhat available, but I'd really love large clear pictures of more of the fabulous faces of the other characters--like the Navy and the pirates. They have to be clear enough to see the eyes well or I'm sunk.

Thank you for the kind words. You're welcome. Hey! Perhaps I should post my portrait of Sands on my LJ. It wouldn't fit in the POTC forums, but it's my journal! Your icon reminded me how much I like that twisted character.

[identity profile] honorat.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 12:56 pm (UTC)(link)
The Captain is certainly stunning! Thank you for letting me know I've captured some of that.

... wow. *rampant jealousy* You just... with graphite and paper.... uddd.... *flomp* *is in awe*

[identity profile] honorat.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)
*Grin* Glad you liked it! "Flomp* is what I did when I saw the original photo :D . Thank you for the comment.

Spent the better part of the past two years writing Sands! (in my Memories under OUATIM) I'd love to see it!

[identity profile] galadhir.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope you don't mind me saying this, but I prefer this to the original. Technically it's flabberghastingly good - the stitching on the leather belt! The contrasting textures of his hair and waistcoat! Amazing! But I like his face better than Johnny Depp's, it's something about the eyes - he looks more formidable, more serious, more genuinely *piratey*. Less like an actor, if you know what I mean. I almost feel that you've caught the character better than any picture from the film could. It's wonderful.

Wow. I'm quite blown away by this one. The detail is incredible. For some reason I'm fixated on his shirt...

Beautiful work.

I'll have to get the picture up some time this weekend. I took a brief glance at your Sands Fics and shall have to do so again when I have the time to comment on them. I do love it when an author can capture the mixture of fascination he is--psychotic, clowning, cold, murderous, tragic, beautiful, damaged, the list goes on. And you write him so well. I'm looking forward to a good time reading. I expect you'll be hearing from me.

[identity profile] honorat.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
My mother has said the same thing. It is just a little different. And you've got it in one. It's something about the eyes. The left one is accurate, but the right one is placed just a little off. I do like the picture, but it is, as you say, a little more the character than the actor. I'm glad you like it. Thanks for commenting.

Thank you very much. *Provides cushion for blown away geek mama to land on* The Captain blows me away too! I'm glad you like the shirt. I love doing fabric folds.

Holy crap, that's beautiful!

[identity profile] honorat.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
When trying to produce "a thing of beauty and a joy forever" one can hardly go wrong with Jack Sparrow as a subject. I'm glad you enjoyed this. Thank you for the compliment.

Oh, this would be great !
Being on the Gillington side^^, I can provide you with a substantial amount of Lt. Gillette related screencaps (see here (http://s55.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0EZ6RMR38IHKK3S71WJ38E9HRH)), (and, if you want to take a look, there is also the (http://www.livejournal.com/users/dauntless_2005/11862.html). )

Lovely screencaps af all characters can be found at the following galleries:
http://photobucket.com/albums/1003/jems1/Caps/PotC/
http://photobucket.com/albums/v56/mimesere/potc/?start=0 (very Norrie-focused ^^)

For Lt. Groves, I can also suggest http://www.gregellis.tv/ where you can additionally find several funny photos (not screencaps, however) of other minor POTC characters.

Hope this helps :)

Oh wonderful! Thank you so much for the links. I'll be enjoying these very much, and who knows, soon some Gillette and Groves art may appear.

[identity profile] teh-farmer.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, That's... *lacks the words*

*stares* Great isn't good enough a word!

[identity profile] hms-dauntless.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
This would be wonderful, because they are frequently underknown/underappreciated characters, especially outside of POTC communities devoted to specific pairings. And this is really a pity, because, in my opinion, pairings are important only to a limited extent, and the Navy guys are very nice (and good-looking^^) fellows when you come to know them.
Hope to see soon other artwork by you :)
*spreading without shame the Navy love*

wow that's awesome! it's true, a lot of people have drawn it but I happen to be favouring yours over others I've seen. i think it's because some of the arts you can tell they were directly copying an image. yours somehow seems unique. this is a gorgeous piece fanart. kudos to you!

[have you drawn other things? own a deviantart account? i'm curious to see more of your work!]

[identity profile] erinya.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
WOW. The detail in this is exquisite. Absolutely exquisite.

I do like the fact that it is not quite Johnny, but definitely Jack. Lovely, Honorat.

[identity profile] honorat.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you for the affirmation. I'm glad you like my version of this familiar picture. I've drawn Huge Amounts of Stuff, but I just got my scanner a couple of days ago, so the only two drawings I have on line are this one and the previous one of Elizabeth and James (http://www.livejournal.com/users/honorat/14150.html). I will be posting more art on my live journal. Perhaps I should archive the art in my Memories section under Art?

[identity profile] honorat.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you very much. I'm so glad you liked this version of the Captain--for whom words and pencils aren't good enough either.

[identity profile] honorat.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. Yes, alas, I was trying for Johnny, but have yet a while to go. He is quite Jack though, so I'm happy everyone likes him. And detail is definitely my thing. I love creating textures with pencil.
