Disclaimer: Don't own POTC. Didn't take the photograph used for reference. Not making any money.
Summary: I finally got my scanner working so Art is available. I'm still working out the bugs, but I think this is working. Based on a screencap from the deleted scenes. This one goes with my story Aboard the Dauntless. Four hours drawing hair. *Dies*

Date: 2005-09-28 10:23 am (UTC)It's amazing how you got the faces look so naturally. As if they're alive... Stunning!

Date: 2005-09-28 12:45 pm (UTC)She really looks real. I'm amazed at your ability to draw faces that well. I never get it right, although I'm good at animals. But faces... You have a great talent!
and the four hours were worth it! Definitely.

Date: 2005-09-28 02:14 pm (UTC)I was thinking, maybe you could post this in the files section of BP Sails, and an announcement that it's there. I think Nancy has some of hers there, too.

Date: 2005-09-28 03:39 pm (UTC)James' cravat is superb-- folds are difficult to do at the best of times, let alone such a precise knot as that. I've tried drawing a naval hat before, and found them so frustrating, so extra credit to you for that!
Elizabeth's hair... I cannot imagine how long that took, but the outcome was well worth the time. I am supremely jealous-- do you want to do my Fine Art A level?

Date: 2005-09-28 03:55 pm (UTC)The secret is never to draw cravats or hats but only to draw shapes that you see. The objects themselves emerge if the shapes are right. Look for the shapes that aren't the objects. Draw with your source picture upside down. Draw small pieces at a time. Make 10,000 mistakes. Then, voila! Success!
Elizabeth's hair = 1/2 hour per square cenimetre! I'm glad you like it. I'd love to do any art but there's this little problem of the wee bit of water between us and the fact that I am depressingly aware that I no longer pass for a student!:(
Thank you for the lovely comment.
