I am becoming repetitive, I know but I am amazed by the terrific realism of your drawings. And I love the joy of life you put in their eyes and faces. This POTC gallery grows ever more interesting.

The excited expressions and actions of this picture were what attracted me to it in the first place. I wanted to try action expressions rather than portrait ones. Thank you for commenting. Repetitive is good!

Wow! Wonderful picture! Again, the clothing is beautifully drawn, and, though both characters are well rendered, I am particularly enamoured of Gibbs -- he looks quite perfect to me.

Gibbs is my favourite character to draw. I love his face--there's not a symmetrical line on it. Thank you for the comment. You do have such a wealth of appropriate icons. I'm really quite monotonous.

I enjoy the icon aspect of Live Journal, and I've had my journal since January of '04, so I've been collecting them for quite a while. I really really need a Gibbs icon.

Ah! The cursed recalcitrance of inanimate matter. I shall have to learn to make icons someday.

You. Are. Brilliant.
And I am green with envy, but I so love Gibbs' expression on this. And his hands.

*Blushes and bows* Thank you very much. I love drawing Gibbs, and hands are my favourite body part. They're such fun to draw. These ones are at such interesting angles, it was a bit of a challenge.

They did have such joyful expressions, I couldn't resist the picture. And yes, Gibbs is an ol' darling--my favourite secondary character. Thank you for commenting.

Oooh! Gibbs stories. Do you have some posted?

Just a few.

From: [identity profile] hazelhawthorne.livejournal.com
Here are two stand alone bits that are also backstory to my unposted WIP which will eventually include an Estrella/Gibbs/Groves poly relationship.

Gibbs likes to tell stories (http://www.livejournal.com/users/hazelhawthorne/41801.html)

Sight is an overrated sense (http://www.livejournal.com/users/hazelhawthorne/8356.html)

There are also several other great Gibbs pieces over at Gibbsfanciers (http://www.livejournal.com/community/gibbsfanciers/)
As a matter of fact, you should go post this over there too. We gotta collect the Joshame goodies all in one place.

This is very interesting-- not the usual subject, anyway :) Gibbs has to be one of my favourite characters, and feel that he is never done any justice or paid enough attention. You've captured his grizzled old seadog look here brilliantly. Oh, and Anamaria is amazing as well-- you wouldn't want to mess with her!

I said it before, but I'll say it again, and that's that your attention to detail is absolutely stunning; from the ragged edges of Gibbs' neckerchief to the unkempt curls in Anamaria's hair... yup, so lovely.

The hands, though. The joints and positions of hands are so difficult to capture so that they look genuine, and you've managed it here, in some non-too easy positions as well.

It's sometimes hard to find pictures of the secondary characters in this movie. These two have such wonderful faces. I'm glad you like my rendition.

One-haired-brush detailer--that's me. And hands are so much my favourite thing to draw right now. They are so complex and eloquent. And these ones were such a wonderful challenge.

Thank you for your kind words.

OH!! oh, this is absolutely marvelous!!! I love it intensely!!! The other two you posted are lovely and well, and excellent work, but this one just grabs my heart and squeezes out a HUZZAH!!!

I must have missed the original postings, in my "skip the communities" week (busy in RL, sister's wedding and all that); I'm so glad to have caught it in the [livejournal.com profile] despatches fanart listing. :-)

I'm delighted you like this so much. It's the one with the most emotion. And it's such a happy picture.

I didn't even know there was such a thing as [livejournal.com profile] despatches and that my art and fics were being listed there. That's cool. I'm glad you found it.

Hands ... faces ... wrinkly clothes!

*GLOMPHS*

I adore the energy of this drawing - positively leaps off the page! I can almost hear their voices shouting. Wonderful.

Mmm, putting this in Memories, too! :-D
Cheers ~

You've listed three of my favourite things to draw--but what drew me to this picture was definitely the hands. Oooh! I've been Glomphed! *Squeeee!!* I'm honoured that you've saved this. Thank you so much.

=D So does that mean you'll do Tia Dalma one day? (You should totally do Barbossa, too... that'd be an interesting portrait to draw!)

I've got quite a queue! I've finally found a good enough reference photo for Barbossa, so he's in the line. So far I haven't really seen a good clear large reference picture of Tia Dalma, but I'd love to draw her. I want to do another one of Anamaria as well. Pintel and Ragetti are also up for portraits.

You captured the source perfectly! Wow! Love how you did the outfits and the expression on their faces :)! So awesome!
