My goodness, that's quite a head of hair you've achieved! Not to mention the fabric in that gown. Very nice depths to the darks and balance with the lights and shading, and the shadow of her hand. I think this is one of my favourites already.

Yes, any foray into drawing Elizabeth is an adventure in acheiving HAIR. I had to use several photographs to figure out what was going on with that dress. This is one of the darker, more contrasty pictures I've ever drawn. I'm glad you like it. Thanks so much for commenting.

Thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoyed this darker piece. Hands are still my favourite.

Thank you for the feedback. I do love drawing hands. I tend to look for pictures with hands in them.

The hair looks gorgeous, must have taken a long time to get it right. And the play of light and shadow is lovely.

Thank you. I appreciate the feedback. Elizabeth's hair is always an exercise in determination, but I'm getting faster at it. The light was fun to work with in this.

I tried that picture before, and gave up on the hair. You have amazing patience, I must say-- or are just a very fast and accurate drawer!

I love the darker tones in this compared to your other pieces-- it really gives her a mysterious air. The play of light on her skin and hair is well caught :)

I love the detail of her hands and on the dress. The only thing that seems a little off is the angle of her lips-- they seem a bit out of alignment with her chin, but it's such a small thing it's barely worth mentioning :/ Ignore me.

A year ago I would never have attempted that hair. Eventually you get to the place where such things seem possible. I find that drawing in the strongest lines and filling in the darkest sections first works well for hair.

This is the darkest portrait I have done yet. I rather like the effect, too, and will have to try it again.

There are a number of things just a little bit off in this picture. I'm still waiting for the day when everything turns out perfect, but I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks so much for the detailed commentary.
