Why thank you! I have been messing with this chapter for so long I no longer know if it's any good or not, so it's nice to hear what works for you.
That class difference between Will and Elizabeth (the one who's not you)is a real barrier. I know some people look down on Will for knuckling under to it, but class was a powerful constraint in that time period. And Elizabeth's very refusal to observe that barrier would double Will's responsibility to care for her reputation on his own. So yeah, it's a real tug on the heart-strings to write them.
*bounce* I'm always thrilled when someone likes my little family. When I considered what would have turned the man who trained a swordsmith like Will Turner into the sot we see in the movie, this was the story.
I wanted Will's surrogate family to be real personalities. That's the only way any of this could be meaningful. I'm so glad you like them. I don't know about films but I've got lots of scratchy little illustrations of them--nothing like finished art, but pictures for my head.
