Summary: More Art! I've been wanting to draw Tia for years, and I finally purchased the supplies for the project. I couldn't imagine this picture in my usual black and white. Tia wanted warm tones.

Thank you very much for the double comment. Tia is really my favourite character from the sequels. I'm glad you feel I've captured her expression here. This picture was so emotion-packed that I just had to attempt it.

Amazing. As all your art is, but this is beyond even your usual craft. Truly sublime.

The expression is haunting - there is anger mixed with sadness. I always wonder if she regretted not showing up for that appointment. Not because it led to her being bound in human form, but deeper, by what it did to her lover Davy Jones. Their scene together in AWE conveyed a depth of feeling beyond that of a goddess merely toying with a mortal.

Sorry to ramble, been writing quite a bit of Calypso/Tia lately, and this just captures her essence so beautifully.

That was an interesting scene. And begs the question: What was Jones' purpose in coming there?

I suspect he'd originally meant to kill her (recall he'd recently told Will and Beckett he wanted Calypso murdered), but he had a Menelaus moment* and couldn't do it.

His final word suggests, even when he hated her, he never did stop loving her.


* Menelaus, a Spartan prince, was the cuckolded husband of Helen of Troy. The story is, when the Greek army breached Troy's walls, Menelaus invaded the palace with the intent of finding and killing Helen for her betrayal. But once he saw her, all he wanted was to take her back.

Oh that stress. :P It's a killer all right. My problem is time for art. For me art is like an emotional blotter. I'm so very peaceful when I do it. I've been needing to do art, and it's such a relief! Here's hoping your sketching leads somewhere rewarding.

What's it like to be so gifted--your choice of medium is perfect for her skin and eyes, the colors so subtle and warm, lucious depth here. I'm old and I've learned some things about the different types of tools artists use. You have used a simple, but strong choice for a woman of the same ilk. You're something and your Tia is so compelling.

Love her luminous eyes and strong shoulders...oh my!

Thank you so much. I'm so glad you enjoyed her. This was based on my favourite picture of Tia Dalma, when she is looking out from the rail of the ship with that expression that you describe so well. She certainly seemed to have many complex emotions surrounding Davy Jones.
